Coaching and consultations for parents

Coaching for parents is based on deep respect for the demands of the parent role and a belief that the majority of parenting challenges are due to missing social and emotional skills that were never previously taught.

My coaching has helped parents to

  1. rapidly integrate new skills to manage their own emotions and internal states,

  2. speak to their child’s emotions in a language that their child can hear

  3. support their child in establishing friendships

  4. fulfill the twin tasks of setting limits while also showing empathy.

School bullying

In my work as Director of No Bully I see how widespread bullying is in our schools: over fifty percent of children are involved in bullying at some point in their progression through school, either as the target, the bully or the bully-follower.

When parents consult with me because their child is involved in bullying, I approach this as an opportunity for their child to learn a new relationship to power and to develop skills in setting boundaries and standing up for themselves.  I also strategize with parents on how to get your child’s school to stop the bullying.
